So this is my first post on my new blog and I am excited. I've been mulling this over for a few weeks now and I have decided to go forward in starting a blog about the books I love. In my description I talk about how everyone is always asking me about the books I am reading. Well that's true and I love to talk about what I am reading and give recommendations, even if people don't want to take them. If you are said person that you know exactly to what I am referring. *hint hint* *nudge nudge* *Tiger's Curse*
I put a BIG WARNING! at the top of this page. The reason is, not everyone who comes to this site is going to like what I have to say. They may not like the genre of books I like, they may not like me, they may not like my opinions of books they like they may not like what I have to say, they may not like my style of writing etc., etc. And that is fine, really it is.
I honestly don't care if you like me or not.
I also don't care if you even like reading, gasp.
It's hard, you can't force people to like to read, you just can't. My husband doesn't really care anything about reading. I think his favorite book is Robinson Crusoe and that may be the only book he has ever read for pleasure (and even then I am pretty sure it was for school). Which is perfectly fine with me. He works on trucks and is badass at it. He can paint like nobodies business. Will you find me in the garage sanding on the body of a truck? I don't think so, although I did help him move an engine onetime, when I was 3 months pregnant and didn't know it.
What I am getting at is summed up in the old adage, To each his (or her) own.
With that said, I think it is important to foster a love of reading in our youth, because in the words of Joseph Addison: Education is a companion...Without it what is man? And reading helps to educate!
So, get out there and read! Read Tennyson, read Austin, read Emerson, read Shakespeare, if your into that wonderful! If you find it "sentimental and dull" (Name that movie in the comments for a chance to win something Fabulous!!) maybe you can try Stephenie Meyer, or Mercedes Lackey, or Rick Riordan.
On another note, don't expect a post from me everyday, I have a full time job and wife and mother and daughter and granddaughter and I like to workout when I can and occasionally I like to clean my house and work on other projects like my own book so I may not have a ton of time to post but I will get to it.
